Another ride
Jul. 10th, 2004 10:53 pmToday was gorgeous, so I went out to the barn about 3.30 and rode. Made an interesting discovery:
Tiki has been playing me for a fool.
I've been taking it easy with him, because he seems somewhat arthritic and creaky. WELL, I roundpenned him for a while before riding, and he had an amazing amount of energy--took off in a snorty, headshaking canter and was generally full of himself. But when I rode him, I got the "Oh please pity the poor Old Man! I'm in such pain! Oh, my back! Oh, my legs!" routine. I got down and found my dressage whip.
The difference was truly astounding.
We had a lovely extended trot, glorious turns, round round circles, perfect canter departures.
That horse is too smart for his own good. ;)

Date: 2004-07-13 02:27 pm (UTC)I'm going to try riding with spurs tonight. It's very hot, so he might be on the slow side again and need them.
