I stole this from my brother, [livejournal.com profile] jarlsberg71

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journal, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she's recite along with the Wizard of Oz."

I'd love it if every single person who befriended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well.

Hey, sure thing. :-)

This is me: Image

I'm still working on getting .jpgs to upload instead of gifs.. should be shortly... If the above picture no longer shows a woman in pink snuggling an orange cat with yellow eyes, then I need to give you a different link.

UHM.... lessee...

I friended you because, of course, of our mutual interest in Brendan Fraser. I fell hard for him when I saw The Mummy, which my husband totally didn't figure out until AFTER he "dragged" me to see it again. lol. Actually he figured it out when I suddenly showed up at home with a stack of videos: School Ties, Mrs. Winterbourne, With Honors, and Blast From The Past. Gave me this little slitty-eyed look...

You and I also share a love of books and bookstores. I worked at Borders Books & Music in Princeton, NJ for about four years. For three of those years I was an assistant manager, which was really a job I couldn't do well, but I loved selling books. I also enjoyed managing the cafe, but I hated *working* the cafe when my staff called out, which they did often, which put me in a really bad mood some days, which led to me being a sucky manager. Not that it's their fault... just that I had trouble processing that kind of stress in that kind of environment.

ANYWAY...

I'm pursuing my career as a writer now. I finished a novel last year and am working on revisions now. I'm also working as an editor, so I've volunteered myself out to friends who are also writers to proofread their manuscripts. We all have done our writing through NaNoWriMo (www.nanowrimo.org), which you probably have heard about more times than you care to, but if not, you can click the link thingy.

Trivia not from recent journal entries, strangely all written in "this is true, but only in this context" format: I love using scented body cream from Bath & Body Works, but I don't like fruit scents because that makes me want to eat my hands. I have a lighthouse-themed bathroom, but that's the only room in my home with a theme. In my job I occasionally have nothing to do, but rather than invest that time as I should by either reading or working on my friends' manuscripts, I tend to surf around LiveJournal and check my email, though I'm starting "NaNoWriYe" in January so hopefully that will help me curb that particular compulsion. I have arthritis in both knees, but it's worse in the right knee. I worked as a missionary in both Germany and Brazil, but I only learned German and have unlearned it again. My husband and I do not own a car, but I tend to leave my keys and bus pass on the bus so have to keep trekking downtown to retrieve them. I used to work in Tony Campolo (http://www.tonycampolo.org/)'s office--typing his correspondence, but I am no longer an evangelical Christian... or really much of any sort of Christian, except possibly in the loosest possible sense.

Pleased to meetcha!

Amy

You already know I love my Brendan and Ewan ;), but I'll tell you something else since you asked . . .

I think I should have been born in England, considering I love to speak with their accent, idolize Evelyn O'Connell(of The Mummy series), and want to explore all the ancient history that is Europe and Africa . . . ;)

All righty, so now I'm labeled as 'the British-wannabee' ;). Muahahaha . . .
